The Strong-Drive SDPW Deflector screw from Simpson Strong-Tie is a premium structural fastening solution for connecting non-load-bearing walls to trusses and joists. Offset driver bits and a driver extension maximize installation speed and safety while minimizing installed cost. The SDPW’s screw and polymer sleeve permit the naturally occurring differential deflection between the wall and the supporting member without squeaking.

Installation

- The installation edge distances pertain to the top plate and supporting member (e.g., truss, rafter) separately. For the top plate the installation edge distance is 1/4 the width of the top plate. Example: if the top plate width is 3.50", the edge distance is 0.875". For the supporting member, the edge distance (or embedded screw location) is within the middle third of the member’s edge width measurement, within +/- 5° of plumb. Example, if the supporting members’ edge width is 1.5", the screw should be embedded within the middle 0.5" of the member.
